Bronze medal commemorating the election of John Hodgson as an MP for Newcastle in 1830. One side shows Hodgson in profile, with the inscription: 'ELECTED M.P. FOR NEWCASTLE ON TYNE JULY 30TH 1830. JOHN HODGSON ELSWICK HOUSE. BORN JULY 30 1806'; the other side has the inscription: 'THE FREEMEN SAY. HE IS OUR CHOICE AND WE WILL RETAIN HIM. NOMINATED BY ARCHIBALD REED. & SECONDED BY SANDERSON ILDERTON ESQUIRES'.
