A copy of a printed circular seeking support in the Cambridge University election of 1820, addressed to Sir Henry FitzHerbert of Tissington Hall, Derbyshire. In the circular, dated 29 February 1820, John Henry Smyth 'solicit[s] the Honour of your Vote and Interest at the ensuing Election'; in the event, Smyth was returned unopposed in March 1820. Copies of the circular, printed in London, were presumably sent to a large number of eligible voters; it is signed by hand, 'J H Smyth'.
