A tin-glazed earthenware jug, inscribed 'Success to Sir William Meredith / And all his Plumpers / Elizabeth Ormes; 1761'. The jug is associated with Meredith's successful campaign for the Liverpool election of 1761 and it provides a striking demonstration of women's engagement with elections and with the practice of 'plumping'.
