Song

Northamptonshire Archives

A printed song which adapts Robert Burns's lyrics to 'Hey Tuttie Tatie', 'Scots Wha Hae', to the campaign of Sir George Robinson and Robert Vernon Smith in the Northampton election of 1831. Robinson and Smith ran on a platform of support for the reform bill, something reflected, for example, in the lines 'Now's the day, and now's the hour, / ... Crush the boroughmong'ring power'.
