One of many drawings through which the Swiss artist Samuel Hieronymus Grimm recorded 'views, buildings, and objects of antiquity, or curiosity in various counties of England' for his patron, Sir Richard Kaye. The drawing depicts chairmen celebrating the unopposed re-election of John Jeffreys Pratt, Viscount Bayham, at the Bath by-election of 1789.
