Printed address by the newly elected Andrew James Cochrane Johnstone, celebrating the return of himself and his 'absent' brother, George Augustus Frederick Cochrane, as members for Grampound in 1807. Cochrane Johnstone emphasizes that he has been returned 'in opposition to the whole of the Corporation', and presents this as evidence of the 'independence' of the freemen, who had rejected the corruption of the former member, Sir Christopher Hawkins, and his bid to 'reduce' Grampound to the same 'cruel and deplorable state' as the borough of Mitchell. The election was declared void in March 1808.
