Music for Country Dance (Audio File)

Hillary Burlock (using MuseScore and Audacity)

New recording of the music for 'Westminster Election', an elegant country dance capitalizing on interest in the recent Westminster election of 1790. The musical score and moves for the dance were printed on a hand fan issued by fan manufacturer Edward Sudlow in December 1790 as one of 'Fourteen New Country Dances for 1791' which, it was claimed, were performed at 'Court, Bath and All Public Assemblys'.

'Westminster Election', from fan printed with Fourteen New Country Dances for 1791, with their Proper Figures as Perform'd at Court, Bath and All Public Assemblys (London, 1790), Manchester Art Gallery, Accession Number 1922.1060
