A copy of a printed circular seeking support in the Cambridge University election of 1826, addressed to Sir Henry FitzHerbert of Tissington Hall, Derbyshire. In the circular, dated 9 December 1825, William John Bankes 'take[s] the liberty of requesting the honour of your support', and notes that 'An active Canvass' has 'been for some time carried on for the Representation of the University'. Bankes was not returned for Cambridge at the election in June 1826; FitzHerbert did give one of his votes to Bankes. Copies of the printed circular were presumably sent to a large number of eligible voters.
