Campaign ribbons associated with candidates in the Newcastle election of 1820, collected by the important Newcastle stationer and collector William Garret. The ribbons bear the inscriptions 'Ellison for ever!' and 'Scott for ever!' (a 'Ridley for ever!' ribbon is missing but has left an impression on the paper). Garret records that these are 'The Ribbons that were worn about the Hats at The Newcastle Election in 1820'.
