A depiction of the hustings for the Kent election of 1734, including the candidates, voters, and clerks recording votes, and large numbers of people surrounding the hustings. The print includes some of the different topical slogans associated with the Kent election and with the 1734 elections more generally -- such as the opposition cry, 'No Excise'. It also features government and opposition supporters displaying partisan allegiance through different items of material culture: for example, by wearing cockades, or sprigs of oak, in their hats.
